Catalina and the Stamp Scrap Art Tour Show

This past weekend my friends Cheyenne, Mary, Karen, and I attending the Stamp Scrap Art Tour Show’s Make-n-Take at the Gwinnett Infinite Energy Center. It’s like Scrapbook Expo, but different, and we had a great time. Every one of us won a door prize during the make-n-take. I can’t remember what Mary and Karen won, but Cheyenne won a stamp set from Darcie and I won something from the Fun Stampers Journey make-n-take table! I was thrilled. I chose a retired ATS (Artist Trading Stamp) called Feed Me. Here it is:

It reminded me of my friend, Kevin’s, cat named Catalina. Catalina can be quite the diva.

Saturday and Sunday were shopping days at the show. They had quite a few door prizes. Cheyenne was one of the first to win a door prize and she got $100.00 to spend in “show bucks.” Of course, her dear friend, that would be me, was right there with her helping to spend every last dollar of her prize. LOL  Here we are right after she got her show bucks:

I, also, helped her select various items from the Heartfelt Creations booth. I will be posting our creations we make sometime in the future from those purchases. The best part is she let me pick out a die that went with one of the free stamp sets I received this past July at the Scrapbook Expo. Yay, me! The Darcie booth had the most incredible stamps and shrinky dink supplies. That’s where the show bucks went. You will be seeing those creations soon.

Once we got home, I said let’s make something really quick and use my new Fun Stampers Journey Color Burst pencils. We decided on the cat, and we pulled together a card in about 40 minutes (that’s pretty quick for us). It turned out to be so cute! I can just see Catalina thinking/saying this to Kevin.

You do not need any gamsol or other medium to create a blended image with FSJ Color Burst Pencils. You only need blending stumps. I added a few rhinestones I purchased from Cre8tiveArtz at the Scrapbook Expo. I used a die we purchased from Pink and Main for the stamped image and the DSP mat.  Because we attended the make-n-take, we could purchase the die set (stitched rectangles with rounded corners) for $10; regular price during the show was $20. The die was a GREAT deal! Cheyenne purchased a scarecrow stamp set with coordinating die the next day. It is soooo cute. I will post our creation when we have time to make it.

Paper Craft Crew Card Challenge #169

Wow, it has been a while since I have posted a card creation. I have been super busy with my part-time job,
getting paper cut and supplies pulled together for my annual Christmas Stamp-a-Stack, creating a game
for our annual Stamp Camp long weekend get-a-way. By the end of the day, I’m so tired I can’t think. I’m sure
most of you reading this have been where I am and know what I’m talking about. No brain thinky = no creativity.

Anyway, I’m posting to Paper Craft Crew Card Challenge #169. Of course, I couldn’t think of anything other than
a Christmas theme. I’ve been in Christmas theme mode for five or six weeks. There are so many awesome SU!
Christmas Cards on Pinterest. Pin, Pin, Pin, . . . . . . and, one of my favorite Holiday items is the edgelit Sleigh Ride set.
LOVE IT! Needless to say, I made a card for this week’s sketch using this set. Here is the PCCCS169 sketch.

I took Island Indigo and made it my base mat along with the decorative tab and mat for the sleigh rider and horse. I used some retired DSP for the bottom portion of the second mat with Whisper White at the top. The ribbon is retired double-stitched Regal Rose. I cut out the trees in Silver Glimmer paper ’cause every Christmas card needs a little bling. I accented the sleigh ride scene with a Snowflake Element wooden snowflake covered in liquid glue and dipped in Dazzling Diamonds glitter. This is a cute, simple card. I hope you enjoy it!

PPA Challenge #268
 For some reason, I have missed the last two Pals Paper Arts card challenges by a few hours. But, I’m super excited to submit a card to PPA #268 Card Challenge today.

This card is a quick and simple Christmas card using SU! Festive Flurry stamp set. I stamped the large snowflake in Pacific Point, the medium sized snowflake in Bermuday Bay, and the small snowflake in Coastal Cabana. I added stampin’ dimensionals and rhinestones to give the stamped image depth and eye-candy. The sentiment is stamped in Pacific Point using SU! Greetings of the Season stamp set.

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #162

I must say having a make-n-take right around the corner helps me to overcome a creativity block. I’m so glad Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #162 gave me the perfect inspiration for one of my September Make-n-Take designs:

I had wanted to use up some of the DSP paper in my paper stacks, and this card fit the bill. I took DSP from SU! Fresh Prints paper stack, cut it into 1 1/2″ strips and then cut the strips diagonally from corner to corner. I then spiraled them around a small circle in middle of the card (I did have to overlap the last two or three very slightly to make the card look good). I then took SU! Perfect Blend and made a cup with a sentiment banner. The card is accented with copper twine and sequins I just bought last week on Stampin’ Up! Weekly Deals.

Freshly Made Sketches #199

This week’s Freshly Made Sketches #199 challenge is:

FMS Final 199-001

I decided to use SU! Watercolor Wings stamp set for this challenge. I stamped the larger butterfly in Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, and Bermuda Bay inks and the smaller butterfly in Tangerine Tango and Tangelo Twist with Daffodil Delight accents and sequins from the Watercolor Wonder Kit (love that kit). The bottom of the card is accented with a strip of Cherry on Top DSP and washi tape from the Watercolor Wonder Kit (did I already mention, I LOVE THAT KIT).

SUO Challenge #126 and TGIFC10

I looking, yet again, through my retired stamp sets and espied Bronco Buster. It made me think of my friend Cheyenne and the cards she makes for her dad’s birthdays. I had looked at the SUO Challenge and TGIF card challenge for this week and felt I could use this card for both challenges.

The SUO Challenge is to use a DSP (Designer Series Paper) as a major part of your card design and TGIF color challenge is . . . . .TGIFC10

I immediately thought of the new Bohemian DSP featured in the SU! 2015-2016 catalog.

I made an initial mat out of Smoky Slate and placed the Bohemian DSP paper on top. I took the Blackberry Bliss ink pad and inked up the Hardwood background stamp, and I stamped the image onto Island Indigo card stock. It look really cool! I then cut out strips and made a frame to border around the cowboy stamped image in Blackberry Bliss on Very Vanilla card stock. I accented the card with a miniature lariat. I think the card is really cute.

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #151

One thing and another has kept me from submitting a regular card challenge to Paper Craft Crew, but this week I’m ahead of schedule. Here is the PCCS151 sketch:

This week I have been drawn toward my retired stamp sets. I found Birthday Banter and it just puts a smile on my face. I love frogs; therefore the frog letting the birthday recipient know at least they we haven’t croaked.

Unlike this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge, it did not take me a long time to make this card. I pulled it together with little effort and a lot of ease. I think you’ll agree it is just adorable.

Update: On the original card there was a lot of negative space in the top right hand corner of the stamped frog image. I added a dragon fly from the SU! retired stamp set Organic Grace. It really made the card pop.

Freshly Made Sketches #193

I really loved this week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. The design team’s cards are gorgeous and the gallery has so many awesome cards posted. Here is the sketch for this week:

I had been feeling as though I didn’t have enough of a selection of stamps to keep my card challenges varied (I’m sure no one out there feels like this – LOL) until I remembered I had a few retired stamps in the cabinet which are out-of-sight and out-of-mind. I chose my color palette of Watermelon Wonder and DSP paper from the Cherry On Top paper stack. I accented the card with Watermelon Wonder ribbon.

You might think this was a quick card for me, but that was not the case. I started out doing just fine. I had first stamped the chicks with the Momento ink and used some Blendabilities but the lightest blue I used was too dark and I couldn’t get it to blend with the color lifter pen. So, I re-stamped the chicks with my Staz-On and used Stampin’ Write Markers along with watercoloring for the background.

Next step, a sentiment. I had a great idea, I thought, I’ll add a die-cut “thanks” at the bottom of the card in Tip Top Taupe. Once I cut it out, it was too wide which required me cutting some of the letters apart and gluing them together with less space in between each letter at the bottom of the card. Ok, it didn’t look great (the word was too large and overwhelmed the card), but I was going to go with it until I . . . . . decided to stamp the chicken feet as a signature at the bottom of the card. Oh good grief, it just looked like a jumbled mess. Then, I had the bright idea of cutting out the thanks, meaning fussy cutting behind all the letters to keep the thanks on the white card stock because I knew I couldn’t pull it off without tearing all the letters (I used the liquid Mono glue – can I get an Amen?). As I’m sitting there cutting the word out, I think, “You know, I could have re-cut this die word at least five times in the time I’ve sat here cutting this word out.”  Hmmm. “Why don’t I just use the word that goes with the chicks?” Hmmm. I did just that and I’m very happy I did. This card looks sooooo much better than the original. I hope you enjoy it and PIN it.
