If you are like me, there are times a little encouragement from friends or family can help to carry you through a rough time. One way to encourage someone is sending them a card.

Join me and hop along for Courtney Kreeber, Mary Polanco and Jenn from Scrapbena Creations Encourgement Hop. I know you will be inspired to create your own cards of encouragement.

Encouragement comes to many of us through God’s Word. I chose Divinity Designs’ Grace’s Strength for the scripture encouragement (click here to check out their website).

Paper Nest Dolls’, Avery with Cross added the cuteness factor. (click here to see their adorable stamps).

I chose FSJ Turbo Teal for the card base. I die cut a rectangle out of the front panel of the card base and a rectangle out of a piece of 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ Turbo Teal cardstock. I layered a 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ piece of acetate between the front panel and the additional piece of Turbo Teal cardstock and glued the panels together. This created a finished look on the backside.

This is the view from the backside of the panel. The extra pieces of cardstock as a frame and the extra white pieces of cardstock on the back of the colored image give the card a clean and finished look.

Next, I die-cut a frilly rectangle frame out of Whip Cream cardstock with Spellbinder’s Shapeabilities Tallulah Frill Layering Frame Small Etched Rectangle die (that’s a long name, wouldn’t you say?). I used the same stitched rectangle die to cut out the middle portion of the frilly frame.

I stamped the sentiment on the right-hand side of the cut-out piece of cardstock. The grassy hill was die cut with a Divinity Designs grass border die and the bottom and sides were die-cut with the stitched rectangle die I used earlier.

I added two candy dots to the top portion and adhered the rectangle onto the inside back flap.

I die cut a adhered the frilly frame to the front panel. Now, to color Avery. It was so much fun to pull out my Spectrum Noir markers and color this sweet girl.

I fussy-cut Avery leaving a small white border. To create a finished back (it can be seen when the front of the card is opened), I traced around her and cut out two more outlines of her using scrap white cardstock. I glued all the layers together and then adhered her to the front acetate panel using glue dots (you can see them but it’s not too noticeable).

Here is the finished card.

Next on the Hop is Christine Marino.

I know many of you have had pets that have passed on and it can be heartbreaking to lose a pet that is like a child (ya know what I mean). I lost an angel puppy named Chewie several years ago. Once he was gone, I just didn’t want to invest my heart into having another puppy.

Chewie

Well, time heals all wounds and the last year I have wanted to share my life with another little buddy. I knew I wanted a puppy that looked like a Havanese. I researched Cavapoos, Bernedoodles, Shihpoos and several other breeds. Just by chance, I learned there is a breed which is a cross between a Havanese and a Poodle called a Havapoo.

I placed my name on a wait list and two days ago, I got the email saying I should look at the available Havapoos and choose the puppy I wanted. I chose a very cute chocolate and white puppy and named him Webster. I will be able to pick him up around August 2nd.

Here are some pictures of him. He looks so serious, but adorable.

Once I chose the puppy I wanted, I had to send a deposit to secure my choice. To celebrate having Webster being a part of the McGee family, I bought a digi stamp off of Etsy from Mujka designs. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and FSJ Color Burst pencils. The mats were cut out with a Pink and Main die from a very old paper pack from my stash.

Here is the card. It’s just so cute!

I will keep you all updated on the process and his first day home!

It’s time for Little Blue Button Stamps July Release. The digital stamp I am featuring on my blog is “Hey You!”

She’s sassy, she’s cute, living it up in the big city. It’s a night on the town and she’s ready to have some fun. But, first she has to grab a cab. Hey you? Yes, you! I have places to go and people see!

This card uses a lot of creative elements. I used Distress Oxide inks for the sky background and took the negative of the cut out cityscape and spritzed FSJ Blue Lagoon Splash to create the skyline shadow. The FSJ Hero City die set is cut from Blue Lagoon cardstock. The frame is die cut from Lemongrass cardstock using a MFT stitched die set I have had in my stash for many a year. Pink and Main Basket Cover Die is cut from Pool Play cardstock with a Denim Days mat peeking out from under the Pool Play.

The LBBS, Hey You, girl is colored using Faber-Castell Polychromos and FSJ Color Burst pencils. She is popped up with foam squares. The final touch of glitz is Journey Sequins Blue Skies.

Here in Georgia, the temperature has been in the 90’s. What!!??? I guess we had better say, “Hello, Summer!”

To celebrate summer, I am featuring Little Blue Button Stamps June release – Love Corn. Like many of you, I love corn and if I could get me a big ear of corn, I would dance with it too!

Love Corn is a great digi-stamp to bring in the summer and all the fresh corn which will be in abundant supply.

I chose to color my image with a combination of FSJ Color Burst pencils and Faber-Castell Polychromos. Shades of purple combine well with the green corn husk and yummy yellow corn.

Spring time brings us so many wonderful flowers and to celebrate Spring flowers, I am featuring Little Blue Button Stamps, Tulips digital stamp.

What a beautiful digital stamp and so much fun to color. I used Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and FSJ Color Burst Pencils to create a stunning card. I think this digi stamp will brighten anyone’s day.

Here are some in progress pictures taken at the table in the screened-in porch from our condo in St. Augustine, FL.

These digital images (see below) were brought to life using a variety of coloring mediums. The purple pink tulips (upper left hand corner) were colored with the Tombow Dual Brush markers using a blender pen. The leaves were colored using the Dual Brush markers and Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers. The pink tulips (upper right hand corner) were colored with Spectrum Noir markers and FSJ Color Burst Pencils. The magnolia blossoms (lower center) were colored with Fun Stampers Journey Color Burst Pencils.

Although I had a rough start with the pink tulip card, it turned out beautifully. The Tammy Tutterow Tiny Sentiments Stamp from Happy Grams is perfect for any occasion. The card is accented with FSJ Special Day Organza Ribbon and Crystal Clear Nuvo Drops (can’t see them in the picture).

Vacation time is just around the corner. Summer will be here, kids will be out of school, families and friends will take off to their favorite vacation destination to relax and enjoy life.

This adorable digital stamp image called Vacation Time is exactly what I’ll be doing in the month of May; relaxing by the pool or on the beach with a nice cool drink. One of my family’s favorite places to get-a-way and relax is St. Augustine Beach, Florida. What is your favorite place to vacation? Let me know in the comments.

The Vacation Time image was so much fun to color. I used my Fun Stampers Journey Color Burst pencils to bring this image to life.

Y’all it’s time again for the FSJ + SB Creative Design Team Blog Hop and I have a surprise for you. I am stepping out of my comfort zone and creating some quick and simple cards that can be used for Valentine’s Day, Anniversary or just to say you care about someone special.

One of my favorite sets is in the spotlight, Perfect Atoms Stamp Set and Dies (SS-0457 and DI-0315), along with, You and Me die (DI-0159). There are endless possibilities with these sets. Where the fun of creating never stops!

The first card is all about lighting up someone’s world. I pulled out a scrap of Whip Cream cardstock, rubbed a little Lemon Drop Fusion ink onto two areas. I die cut one of the colored pieces with SB Nestabilities Fancy Edged Rectangles Dies (S4-905) and stamped the light bulb image onto the other using Black Licorice Fusion ink and die-cut it out with the coordinating die. Of course, the bulb had to have a little Journey Glaze to give it that sleek shiny look of glass. The base is Whip Cream with the die cut mat adhered directly to the base. The light bulb is popped out with FSJ Medium Foam Squares. I stamped the sentiment in the bottom right hand corner and highlighted the would light with a FSJ Color Burst pencil (any yellow will do).

The next card is all pink. The base is Whip Cream with a Bubble Gum cardstock mat die-cut from Lots of Dots Die Set (DI-0424) and adhered directly to the base mat. The scalloped circle is die cut from Sweet Berry cardstock with the Nestabilities Fancy Edge Circle Dies (S4-903). The flask and sentiments were stamped with Black Fusion ink onto Whip Cream cardstock and the flask is colored with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

Now, we can’t have a pink card without a blue one, can we? This card is on a Whip Cream base with a Pool Play mat. The heart is die-cut with the Heart Felt Die and Piercing Elements Sets (DI-0033 and DI-0096) from Riverstone cardstock. The accent piece is die cut from Huckleberry Fusion cardstock using the Bunch of Hearts Die Plate (DI-0501). I adhered a piece of scrap white paper behind this die-cut piece and cut a second panel from Pool Play cardstock. I took the hearts from the second cut and enlaid them into the cut out hearts portion of the Huckleberry Fusion panel. The sentiment was stamped with Whip Cream ink and embossed with white embossing powder. The flasks were stamped using Huckleberry Fusion ink onto Tin Pail cardstock. The heart and panel are popped out with medium foam squares.

Last but not least is the adorable You and Me card. The base is Whip Cream cardstock with a Black Licorice Panel. To create the stamped background, I stamped the atom image onto Whip Cream cardstock using Black Licorice ink. I took the small cluster of hearts and stamped them all over using Sweet Berry ink. The You and Me sentiment is die cut from Sweet Berry Cardstock with a Bubble Gum pink Candy dot accenting the heart. All pieces are adhered directly to each other. No foam squares on this one! I can’t believe it, either. Note: This card is slightly shorter. I wanted the die cut sentiment to touch the top and bottom of the card. The finished dimensions of the card 5 1/8″ x 4 1/4″.

Let me know in the comments if this has inspired you to create some quick, simple and clean follow your heart cards for those special someones in your life.

Can’t wait to create with you!

One of the FREE gifts from Fun Stampers Journey to each coach in June at convention was the Cottage Bouquet stamp set. I am in love with this set. There are so many beautiful papercrafting project possibilities using this dynamic set of florals not to mention the cute bow and sentiments – did I mention we received the coordinating dies FREE too!

When I saw the Freshly Made Sketch #345, I knew this set would make the perfect card.

Freshly Made Sketches are clean and simple cards. Making sure I kept to this design style, I chose FSJ Whip Cream cardstock for the base. I pulled out one of the stitched designed frames from the Pocket Cuts Die set and cut the initial rectangle. To create a frame, I cut the center of the rectangle out with one of the Journey Rectangles dies using Huckleberry Fusion cardstock. The frame mat is stamped in Pretty Amethyst with the Flannel Life stamp background stamp. I wanted the “amazing” sentiment to create a pop of color and Lavender Fusion cardstock was just the right touch of color to create this affect. The “amazing” die came with a set of dies included when I ordered my Amaze machine. The flowers are stamped on Whip Cream with Black Fusion ink and colored with Pretty Amethyst and Electric Lime ink by dabbing color onto the petals with the small dowel sponge set. The stems are colored with a Color Burst Pencil. I accented the card with Cosmic Grape silk, Rainbow Drops and a triple bow created from our Whip Cream twine.

A simple but amazing floral card:
